So, Who’s Behind Affirmed Counseling? (Spoiler: It’s Me, Lizz!)

Welcome to Affirmed Counseling: Where Clinical Expertise Meets Heart-Centered Coaching

Hi, I’m Lizz Ritter—a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor, Parenting Coach, and the founder of Affirmed Counseling, PLLC. I’ve spent over a decade walking alongside individuals and families as they navigate mental health challenges, personal growth, and parenting journeys that are anything but “by the book.”

Whether you know me from the therapy room, a Facebook live in the ADHD Parenting Solutions group, or from a training on clinical supervision or private practice strategy—you’ll notice a theme: I blend real-life experience with evidence-based tools to help people feel seen, supported, and successful.

A Little About My Background (a.k.a. “Yes, I’ve been doing this a while.”)

With a BA in Psychology from Cedar Crest College and an MS in Mental Health Counseling from Walden University, I’ve built a career rooted in compassionate care and clinical excellence. I’m licensed in North Carolina as a Clinical Supervisor (LCMHCS #S10312), and I’ve had the honor of mentoring new clinicians and helping shape the next generation of ethical, grounded mental health professionals.

Since 2013, I’ve owned and operated Affirmed Counseling in Albemarle, NC—now a thriving group practice with a talented team of seven providers and three admin rockstars. In both therapy and supervision, I take a strength-based approach that focuses on empowering people to own their growth.

Why ADHD Parenting? Because I Get It.

As a parent myself—and someone living with ADHD—I know firsthand how confusing and isolating it can feel to raise a neurodivergent child in a neurotypical world. That’s why I created the ADHD Parenting Solutions program: a judgment-free zone packed with practical tools to help you self-regulate, communicate effectively, and build lasting connection with your child.

I also run a free Facebook group for ADHD parents to learn, vent, laugh, and grow with others who truly understand. No shame. No perfect parenting pressure. Just support, strategies, and a lot of “Me too!” moments.

For My Fellow Clinicians: Let's Talk Career Clarity

I’m just as passionate about guiding other therapists through the professional maze of mental health work. One of the most confusing decisions early on? W2 vs. 1099. My resource, “W2 vs. 1099: Navigating the Career Path as a Mental Health Counselor Associate,” breaks it down without the jargon or sugarcoating. Whether you're trying to protect your boundaries, maximize your earnings, or plan your private practice path, this one’s for you.

Need a Parenting Reboot? Start with My Positive Parenting Challenge

If you’ve ever ended the day thinking, “I need to do this differently, but I have no idea how,” my Positive Parenting Challenge is your perfect starting point. It's five days of no-fluff, actionable content to help you shift from reactive parenting to calm, connected leadership—no superpowers required.

I’m so glad you’re here. Whether you're a parent, a therapist, or a little of both, you don’t have to figure it all out alone. Dive into the resources, join the community, and let’s walk this journey together.

With support always,
Lizz Ritter, LCMHCS
